Pest Wizard Flea Beetle Trap Kit

Pest: Tiny Flea beetles (0.06-0.12″ long) jump when disturbed. Body color varies by species, black, brown, metallic or white stripes. Flea Beetles overwinter as adults in soil, in crop residue and in brushy or woody areas. They emerge in early spring when temperatures reach about 50°F. Females lay eggs in the soil at the base of plants. Eggs hatch in 1 or 2 weeks. Larvae feed on plants until fully grown, then pupate in the soil for 11 to 13 days before emerging as adults.

Damage: Flea Beetles are found on asparagus, beet, carrot, cole crops (broccoli Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards and kale), corn, cucurbit (melon, cucumber, squash), eggplant, peppers, potatoes and tomatoes. 

A flea beetle makes tiny holes in the leaves called “shot-holing”. Damage is most serious when plants are young, and leaves are tender. High populations of flea beetles can result in plant loss. 

Method: The flea beetle control kit is designed to selectively attract male and female adult flea beetles, Phyllotreta species. The flea beetle is attracted to the trap with a scientifically designed scented lure and by the bright yellow sticky trap. Flea Beetles stick to the non-toxic, Messyless™ adhesive surface and are prevented from reproducing or continuing to feed. Traps will work best when placed just above or beside host plants at the same time seeds are planted or seedlings are transplanted. 

Unlike traditional insecticides, the flea beetle control kit will not harm beneficial insects living nearby.
